Hosted by ANU Engagement and Success
Alumni are invited to help welcome commencing First Generation (first in family to attend university) students to ANU. This event celebrates the stories and journeys of ANU students, alumni, and staff who are the first in their immediate family to attend university. Being at university is a significant achievement, especially when you step out of what is known or expected in your community. Come along and be inspired by the journeys of these pioneers.
Through this event, we acknowledge the unique challenges that First Generation students overcome through their university journey and highlight the unique strengths they bring to the wider ANU community.
Who's Invited?
First Generation students and alumni
We cordially invite First Generation students and alumni from ANU.
A student is considered First Generation if their parents (or guardians) have not attended university. A student is First Generation even if their siblings and/or other members of their family have attended university. First Generation students include those with an Out of Home Care (OOHC) experience.
Representation from the wider ANU community
Seats are also available for members of the wider ANU community, so that they can also welcome the First Generation members of our community.
