Transparency
ANU is committed to being transparent about how donations will be used. We will be clear and open in our communications with donors, and will provide donors with information on the programs or projects they have chosen to support.
All gifts will be accepted, administered and stewarded in line with the ANU Gifts and fundraising policy, available in the ANU Policy Library here.
In addition to information on their individual donations, donors will have access to the University's most recently published financial statements, usually in the form of Annual Reports. ANU Annual Reports are published on the ANU website here.
Privacy
ANU is committed to respecting donors’ privacy in line with the ANU Privacy Policy and the ANU Advancement Privacy Statement. Requests for giving to remain anonymous and confidential will be honoured. When contacting donors, ANU Advancement staff will identify themselves as being from ANU.
Accountability
ANU is committed to being a responsible steward of donor contributions, and remaining accountable to our donor community. We will endeavour to administer all gifts for their intended purpose, in accordance with Australian law and in an efficient, effective and ethical manner.
Under the oversight of the ANU Foundation, the governance framework for all gifts made to ANU, the University will maintain the highest standards in relation to its fundraising activities and gifts made to ANU.
In the unlikely event that the University cannot satisfy the original purpose of the gift, or where the University reasonably believes that the original expressed wishes of the donor are no longer a suitable and effective means of using the gift, the University will consult with the donor or the donor’s nominated representative, wherever possible.
Impact
Donor support makes a profound impact on the University, our broader community, and the world. ANU is committed to sharing with donors information on the impact of their giving, relative to its direction and value. All donors will have access to an annual update on the collective and transformative impact of philanthropy at ANU, recognising the many ways donors and volunteers make a difference.
Recognition
ANU is committed to recognising donor support and celebrating the powerful role of philanthropy within our University.
We will acknowledge donations in a timely and appropriate manner, and communicate with donors via the channels they have elected to receive updates through. An official tax receipt will be sent for all donations.
We will seek to publicly recognise giving by publishing impact stories, and will always ensure permission is sought before publishing or sharing details about a donor.
Feedback
ANU is committed to receiving and acting on constituent feedback. We value donor input and suggestions, and we will use them to continually improve our programs and services. The ANU Donor Relations team invites donors to get in contact, and will acknowledge all donor feedback and requests within two business days.
